Duke of Edinburgh 25
In June 2025, over 30 of our Year 9 students recently completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze expeditions with great success, demonstrating remarkable perseverance, strength of character, and a shared sense of hope throughout their journey.
The practice expedition involved trekking from School to Ilkley and back, providing an excellent opportunity to test their navigation skills, teamwork, and resilience, especially under the challenge of sunny weather and varied terrain. This valuable warm-up prepared them well for the final assessed expedition, which took them from Haworth back to School via Bingley.
Throughout both expeditions, the students faced physical and mental challenges with determination and a positive spirit. Their ability to work collaboratively, support one another, and remain focused on their goals was truly commendable. Whether cooking meals after a long day’s walk, pitching tents together, or keeping morale high, our Year 9 cohort embodied the true values of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
These expeditions were more than just outdoor adventures, they provided meaningful opportunities for growth, reflection, and confidence-building. The hope and enthusiasm the students carried with them, both for the journey and future challenges, was inspiring to witness.
We are incredibly proud of all participants. Not only have they completed two challenging expeditions, but they have also taken important steps toward earning their Bronze Awards, marking significant personal development that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.
