Spain 2025
40 Year 9 students had the fantastic opportunity to explore and immerse themselves in Spanish culture during our recent trip to Andalucía.
Throughout the trip, the students demonstrated excellent character, embraced new experiences, sampled a variety of traditional foods, and even learned how to make paella from scratch. They also explored the art of Flamenco at the Museo del Baile Flamenco in Seville, founded by the renowned dancer Cristina Hoyos, where they learned both the history and basic steps of this passionate dance form.
In Málaga, students climbed the historic Alcazaba fortress, enjoying stunning views from the top. They also had fun playing football and dancing to Spanish music on the city’s most famous beach, Playa de la Malagueta.
In Gibraltar, the group enjoyed meeting the famous monkeys, viewing the Moroccan coastline, and visiting the Deputy Mayor, who gave a fascinating tour of the Town Hall and explained Gibraltar’s unique history.
One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba. This magnificent architectural landmark, originally a mosque and later converted into a Christian cathedral in the 13th century, is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage. It provided a meaningful opportunity for students to learn about both Christianity and Islam, and to reflect and end their incredible journey with a moment of prayer.
