The recent Year 12 trip to Rio de Janeiro was truly an unforgettable experience for both the students and staff. They had the privilege of visiting some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, starting with the famous Christ the Redeemer statue. Standing before such a monumental figure and taking in the breathtaking views from the top of Corcovado Mountain was an awe-inspiring moment for everyone.

They also spent a peaceful morning at the Botanical Gardens, which provided a welcome respite from the more bustling aspects of the trip. The gardens were filled with a wide variety of plants, and the group even spotted some monkeys swinging in the trees—something that particularly excited the students.

Another highlight was the cable car ride up to Sugarloaf Mountain. The panoramic views of Rio from the top were absolutely stunning, and while the ride was a bit nerve-wracking for some, it was undoubtedly worth it once they reached the summit.

One of the most unique activities the group participated in was Hawaiian canoeing along the coast. Many of the students had never tried canoeing before, so it was a fantastic opportunity for them to work together as a team, paddling along the shoreline. The experience not only gave them a fresh perspective of the city from the water, but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and adventure among the group.

Of course, no trip to Rio would be complete without experiencing the world-renowned beaches. The students enjoyed swimming in the crystal-clear waters, playing football on the sand, exploring Copacabana Beach, and visiting the vibrant markets at Ipanema.

Overall, the trip to Rio was a perfect blend of culture, nature, and fun. It was a truly enriching experience for all involved and certainly one of the most memorable trips the group had undertaken.
