Leeds Trinity Think and Go Higher
On Tuesday 20th May, Year 8, 9 and 10 students concluded their participation in the Think and Go Higher programme with a visit to Leeds Trinity University. The programme, run by our Uniconnect Outreach Officer, Farhana Begum, explores a range of different aspects of higher education to reduce as many barriers as possible should students wish to pursue this route in the future. Students were amazing, working in teams within year groups to design an ice cream franchise (Year 8), engineer an earthquake proof building (Year 9) and debate the merits of modern technology (Year 10). Three amazing teams won Amazon vouchers and there were a number of honourable mentions for teams that were runner ups. The skills of leadership, team work, communication, creativity and innovation were all tested, in an environment where a love of learning is key. Students also toured the campus, had a talk on the benefits of a higher education and had lunch in the student union. Thank you to all staff and students involved.
