The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe 26

Drama Students Visit The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at The Lowry
On 8th January 2026, our GCSE and A-Level Drama students enjoyed an inspiring theatre trip to The Lowry in Manchester to see the acclaimed stage production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
The performance was a fantastic opportunity for students to experience high-quality live theatre and to see how C.S. Lewis’s much-loved novel has been creatively adapted for the stage. From the imaginative staging and inventive use of puppetry to the atmospheric lighting and sound design, the production offered plenty for our students to analyse and reflect upon.
For our GCSE Drama students, the visit was particularly valuable as they will use the production to support their preparation for Section B of their written exam. Seeing the performance live has given them first-hand insight into directorial choices, design elements, characterisation and the ways in which tension and atmosphere can be created on stage.
A special highlight of the afternoon was seeing one of Mrs Baxter’s former students perform in the professional cast, taking on the role of Mr Tumnus. It was a proud and inspiring moment for our current students to witness the success of other previous GCSE/A-Level students performing on such a prestigious stage.
The trip was an excellent start to the new term and a wonderful reminder of the power of live theatre to engage, challenge and inspire.
